(More customer reviews)I had the kit for about a year and cleaned the filter about 2-4 times a year depending on when I change my oil. The pump will eventually go bad, it would be best to have a seperate spray bottle and transfer the fluid into that one.

(More customer reviews)I purchased two of these, one for a 2003 Camry and the other for a 2008 Sienna. It is a very easy installation, just pop off the filter cover for the old one and slip these pre-oiled filters in. Great for a car's lifetime. Two words of caution though: 1) buy the cleaner and oil kit because you will need it to clean the filter after about 5000 - 7000 miles and 2) make sure you install the filter correctly. The filter has a curved corner that matches perfectly with the filter box. If you are not attentive, you might not align it correctly and close the box without a good seal. I'm sure the instructions might tell you this, I never took the time, but I guess I had enough time to install it twice. After about 1000 miles, it seems to increase the fuel efficiency, but don't expect dilythium crystal - like increases/savigns. If you plan on keeping the car a lot of miles, the savings will add up.

The spray bottle offers much better coverage with less waste, and less effort from the regular size finger pump. And I have always found that the cleaner runs out way before the oil of the same size. Also I clean these filters more often, and it really helps with overall milage. Letting a filter go 50k (K&N statement) before you clean it is just CRAZY! Clean it every 10-15k and you will find your car runs better, and you have less gunk on you throttle body that causes poor mileage.

K&N 99-5050 Filter Care Service Kit - Squeeze Review

(More customer reviews)I love the squeeze bottle ... the aerosol bottle just sprays everywhere and is harder to control quantity and where it hits. It also seems harder to judge when you have applied to much, or too little.
With the squeeze bottle, you simply apply an even amount along the ridges on both sides of the filter and allow time for the oil to soak down into the fibers of the filter.
This way, you can start with a smaller amount and if it isn't enough to "soak to the middle" you know you need more, and can judge how much more based on how much you applied the first time and how much white space is left. After time, you start to get a good feel for the amount of oil needed to re-oil the filter.
K&N filters are also specifically distributed with a spec sheet showing the amount of oil needed, and this information can also be viewed on the K&N website. For instance, my car's filter requires 1.24oz of oil to re-oil the filter.
With the squeeze bottle it is very easy to determine how much oil has been applied - it's just liquid in a bottle and there is a gauge so you can see how much oil is in the bottle when you start, how much is left as you work, and therefor how close you have come to the K&N recommended amount of oil for a proper re-oiling job. With the spray can, knowing how much oil you have dispersed is difficult if not impossible.

It is difficult to say from using a filter how well they filter oil. I have read online reivews where they will cut open filters to see what is inside. These reviews say that K&N filters are well built inside.
K&N oil filters are my preferred oil filter, and I have been very happy with them.

I have used this for several years now and it fits perfectly in my RX300 and also our 4Runner without a hitch. Very easy to remove in tight places given it has a 1 inch nut on the top.

K&N 99-0516 Air Filter Oil - 12.25oz - Aerosol Review

(More customer reviews)The job of the K&N spray oil is to insure long life and good filtering qualities from your *intially* expensive air intake filter. So far my Volkswagen "plate" filter has been swapped onto a second MK4 Golf that I bought (this time a GTI), and in total the filter has been filtering over 120,000 kilometers of dust (some 75,000 miles) with no problems and no costlier (in the long run) OEM paper filtering media. Maybe that doesn't sound like a lot of miles in the States, but believe me, here in the year-round hot, humid, dusty, really dirty, pothole ridden and salty Caribbean roads, that is truly a lot. My car is turbocharged and is expected to suck in way more air than "normal" cars.
NOTE: If intending on air delivery for this oil, I recommend instead buying the squeeze bottle. This aerosol can is registered as an explosive hazardous material NOT suitable for air shipping of any kind.
