I have been using Royal Purple gear oils for quite some time in differentials mainly with OK success however I did not see any increase in fuel economy as Royal Purple states you will get. This oil was installed in three vehicles and none showed any improvement in mileage. There are other synthetics out there that are equally good and cost a lot less. I recently changed the power steering fluid with Royal Purple power steering fluid in a Toyota Avalon and the steering was definately smoother. I'm not sure if it was the Royal Purple or just that the power steering oil that was in the car was in there for over 100K miles but it is much easier to steer than it had been after the change. Regarding the motor oil I see no difference at all using Royal Purple oil. I believe it to be Hype and it is also way over priced and expensive with (in my opinion) no additional benefits. I won't be purchasing Royal Purple motor oil in the future. I am a certified Auto and Marine technician and I believe Royal Purple engine oil just adds to more expense in maintaning your vehicle without any benefits over other synthetics.
