Hopkins FloTool 10705 Giant Funnel Review

Hopkins FloTool 10705 Giant Funnel
Average Reviews:

A local grocery store has a loyalty program that gives a discount on gasoline. When I've built up enough points to get gas for free, I buy the maximum allowed. I fill my tank, and then put the rest into 5-gallon containers. The problem comes later when I try to get the gas out of the containers and into my car. This funnel is the perfect size to avoid spills, but the stem is not nearly long enough to reach into the tank. So I bought this guy, cut off the long stem and stuck it on this one. It was a perfect fit. I now have a funnel with a really huge mouth and a really long stem.

Hopkins TF-1 Heavy Duty Transmission Funnel, 18" Hose, Red Review

Hopkins TF-1 Heavy Duty Transmission Funnel, 18 Hose, Red

The hose included is only 10-12" long. This may not be a 'show stopper' for most buyers, but, if you know you NEED the hose to be 18", you should be warned that it is not as listed. Perhaps they changed the materials, or maybe the TOTAL length with the funnel attached is close to 18", or they have 'mixed/incorrect' inventory in stock.
I have decided not to return it because , even if it doesn't work for me as is, I can simply purchase some hose for it. Besides, I feel a little silly buying a funnel from Amazon as it is, I'd feel worse returning it!
fyi
EDIT: Just used it this weekend to re-fill the transmission/diff. in my Subaru 06 WRX Sportwagon. Plenty long enough and a 'plus' was the plastic fitting on the end. It is a good fit for the fill hole as it allows air to escape but sits nicely on top without 'falling in'. I still would advise medium/slow pouring - but I managed to not spill a single drop. Just make certain you hold the funnel or it is very secure while pouring. Bumping it to 4 stars. But the description really should be corrected.

Mityvac 7201 Fluid Evacuator Plus Review

Mityvac 7201 Fluid Evacuator Plus

Works great. The dispensing feature is the key feature that sets this apart from other tools. It's makes it extremely easy to get the used oil into containers for recycling. No more funnels/towels for spills etc.
Granted, instructions may not be completely detailed, but this is a TOOL not an appliance. One shouldn't expect a wrench to come with 10 pages of instructions.
For those of you complaining about slow suction, here are some tips:
1) Warm up the engine.
2) Use the largest tube that fits down the dipstick
3) Remove the oil fill cap!!! Modern crankcases are airtight. If you don't remove the oil fill cap, then the only way for air to get in to displace the oil you're sucking out is the tiny space between the dipstick and the tube. You're forming a vaccuum that is working against the tool.
If you've imploded your tool, you've overpumped it, there was something else that was holding up your suction that you did not address.
If you doubt the speed, first practice using the new tool with plain water (clean unit only please: don't mix water with your oil) to get an idea of how everything works, and make sure you don't have any leaks in your connections.

Hydro Turf OIL EXTRACTOR OIL01 Review

Hydro Turf OIL EXTRACTOR OIL01

Solidly built, quality product. The stem is thin though, so pumping out a full engine of oil can take 45 mins. Trick I've learned is to get the oil pretty hot. Good idea anyhow and this unit can handle hot oil. But if you have warm oil its thick and is like sucking a milkshake out a straw. I pumped my twin engine boat with it. Warm oil took 45 mins in one engine. Hot oil in the other took 10. Dumping is easy and clean. Only thing missign is a cap for the log tube when stored. Easy to make your own.

Automatic Oil Change System Review

Automatic Oil Change System
Average Reviews:

as a pump and system in general its fine, but it comes with a great big diameter hose, WAY too big to put down the dipstick tube. I had some tubing around and happened to have the right fittings, otherwise this would be on the way back.
Instructions actually state you are to put the tube down the fill hole. I dont think whoever wrote the instructions knows that is impossible. The only way to drain oil is to take it from the pan/sump, not draw it thru the engine!?
If you're cool with buying more stuff to make this work, by all means it seems to be just fine. Otherwise, find one that definitely has the right fittings. The ad for this one is misleading, so i dont know who to believe.
