Known as the "can with a thousand uses," WD-40 is an all-purpose lubricant that helps you fight rust and corrosion. This 8-ounce can features a brand-new design with a permanently attached straw--so you won't have to worry about losing the little red straw ever again! Using WD-40, you'll be able to eliminate rust, penetrate hard-to-reach areas, dissolve adhesives, silence squeaky hinges, and more.A Proven Lubricant FormulaInvented in 1953, WD-40 uses a unique and reliable formula that purges grease, grime, and rust from any hard surface. It works by displacing moisture, effectively shielding metal against water and other corrosive elements. WD-40 can also function as a stain remover, and it is able to eat through annoying adhesives and stickers. The lubricant is powerful and only takes a small amount to work, ensuring that your 8-ounce can will last you a long time.Convenient New Can DesignThe WD-40 can has been designed with convenience in mind, and it allows for simple one-handed operation. Better yet, the design has been revised to prevent loss of the red straw. The straw is now permanently attached to the can by a hinge, making your WD-40 experience easier than ever. To get a wide-arcing spray, simply push the hinge down to remove the straw. If you're doing precision work, shift the hinge back up and use the straw for a more focused stream.

Permatex 31824 Bulb/Lamp & Electrical Connector Dielectric Grease - 0.10 oz. Review

Although sold for automobile bulb sockets (for which it works great), this product is actually silicon grease. "Dielectric" means that the silicon grease is an electronic insulator. See also Fantasea Silicon Grease Lubricant, "for all types of O-Rings"
Although ordinary automotive grease is very damaging to rubber products, silicon grease is great for ANY rubber products, and for use on ANY electronic connection.
Does your car refuse too start when it's been raining for days? You could replace the entire ignition harness (for perhaps $100 plus labor)---or just coat the wires with silicon grease, being particular generous at the spark plug and distributor connections. No need to wipe off excess.
Is your bathroom faucet leaking? Disassemble it, clean it, and rub silicon grease into all of the rubber seals. Let it set, wipe off excess, reassemble.
Is the A/C plug for your juicer hard to push into the socket? Add a generous coating of silicon grease and stick it in and out of the socket several times to lubricate the socket. Petroleum grease or oil may conduct electricity and burn---making the connection worse. Silicon grease will not conduct electricity nor burn.
Is the door lock of your car stiff? Same solution, slather silicon grease on the key, and lock/unlock the door several times.
Does the right or left channel of your headphones drop out or sputter? Silicon grease will improve the connection.
Do you have to shake your TV remote to make it work? Silicon grease will improve the batteries connections.
Does wind noise at high speed because of a poor door seal drive you crazy? Coat the seal with silicon grease. Rub it in, let it set, wipe off excess
Do you have a classic car with stiff dried-out rubber seals? This stuff is first aid. If they aren't too dead, silicon grease will bring them back to life, and protect them from further deterioration.
Sliding windows in your van hard to open/close? Coat the channels with silicon grease.
Within reason, you cannot use too much. Unlike ordinary oil and grease silicon grease does not attract dirt.
See my "So you'd like to"
"Improve rubber seals or revitalize rubber items"
"Improve electrical connections" and
"Repair electronic devices damaged by bad batteries"
guides for details on other uses.

WD-40 11010 Lubricant, Aerosol Can, 3 Fluid Ounce, 2" OD, 1.75" Length Review

Used this for some squeaky hinges that had gotten pretty loud and within less than a minute of spraying all four hinges on the door, the squeaking was completely gone upon testing the door out. The product is liquid, so it will drip below if you're not careful, so be ready with a paper towel for any that drips off of where you intended to spray . The label recommends that you do not wipe the lubricant off of your target, though, as it is better for rust protection to just leave it on. It was a slightly difficult to get the little straw into the nozzle, as it is a tight fit, but not too difficult. Best of all this can was about $2 at Target, so it was easy to justify getting it, as 3 oz. is a pretty good amount for only a couple bucks.
Bottom line: works great and easy to use, just watch for any mess after you spray it.

The thread on the brass plug has nicks in it which proved impossible to screw the plug into the drilled bolt head. I would have had to re-thread it to make it work. Save yourself some cash and a headache and find a higher quality product.

This lubricant works on many materials without damage to surfaces like other solvent based oils. It works great on binding hinges of different materials. Wonderful for plastics that tend to squeak and chafe. Great for a binding water hose nozzle.

Permatex 82180 Ultra Black Maximum Oil Resistance RTV Silicone Gasket Maker - 3.35 oz. Review

Permatex 82180 Ultra Black Maximum Oil Resistance RTV Silicone Gasket Maker - 3.35 oz.
Average Reviews:

I used this recently when I changed the fluid in the rear diff. of my 97 Explorer. Didn't need a gasket just the RTV. Seals great and no leaks. The car has 150K and I noticed a leak so I pulled the cover and it has no gasket. So someone had changed the fluid before many miles ago and used an unknown gasket maker. It was worn out but I was happy the fluid wasn't to dirty and not much had leaked out. Cleaned off the old sealant and painted the cover. I followed the directions on the RTV and installed the cover. I waited overnight to refill. Not necessary but I noticed a brake line was badly rusted and needed to replace that. After replacing the brake line I filled the diff. up with new synthetic gear oil and no leaks.
