(More customer reviews)I used this to seal the inspection ports on my diesel fuel tank. Essentially you make a bead about 1/16" - 1/4", with some circles around any bolts. Make sure you clean the surface beforehand: I used acetone, but the recommendation is brake cleaner. I knock it a star because there was a slightly unmixed sputter halfway through the contents of the tube, but otherwise it's pretty easy to work with. Remember not much is "diesel proof", but rather can be quite "diesel resistant".
Also remember that you (or someone like you) will probably need to undo whatever you're putting together to service it at a later date, so please only use as much material as you need to. If a small amount will do, a larger amount is not better. In fact, a larger amount than you need might ooze inside of whatever you're sealing, potentially putting little goo balls in places you don't need it to go.

(More customer reviews)The extremely quick setup time means that you have to be ready to move quickly once you start to apply the product. However, if you're prepared for this, it's enough time to get even a large item (i.e. transmission oil pan) reinstalled while the material is still workable.
The short working time is definitely worth it because you can immediately return the part to service. I recently used it to form a seal between the thermostat housing and engine block on an Audi A6, and it was great to be able to immediately refill the coolant and test the system without waiting for the sealant to cure.

(More customer reviews)I used this sealant on my 1994 Lexus LS400 AT pan, oil pan & valves covers.
Pros:
(1) Cheaper per ounce as a cartidge; much cheaper than Toyota OEM FIPG;
(2) Less fatigue - used a Campbell Hausfeld PL1558 Air Powered Caulk Gun, also from Amazon.Com;
(3) Easy & even bead;
(4) Good reach due to pointed nozzle, even in very tight corners when your bigs hands can't reach;
(5) Less waste, less leakage, compared w/tube;
(6) Grey color sealant is higly visible - easily distinguish with black areas;
Points to remember:
(1) Let it set overnight (24 hours my preference) before driving;
(2) Don't over-tighten bolts unnecessarily, follow torque specs;
(3) Use a torque wrench;
Very happy with results - no leaks!!!

(More customer reviews)I used this recently when I changed the fluid in the rear diff. of my 97 Explorer. Didn't need a gasket just the RTV. Seals great and no leaks. The car has 150K and I noticed a leak so I pulled the cover and it has no gasket. So someone had changed the fluid before many miles ago and used an unknown gasket maker. It was worn out but I was happy the fluid wasn't to dirty and not much had leaked out. Cleaned off the old sealant and painted the cover. I followed the directions on the RTV and installed the cover. I waited overnight to refill. Not necessary but I noticed a brake line was badly rusted and needed to replace that. After replacing the brake line I filled the diff. up with new synthetic gear oil and no leaks.
