Royal Purple Synthetic Engine Motor Oil SAE 30 1 Quart Bottle Review

Royal Purple Synthetic Engine Motor Oil SAE 30 1 Quart Bottle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used this for my year old lawn mower. I was really surprised to be able to hear the mulching blade whirring because the lawnmower engine noise was so suppressed. Now that was surprising to me. I am not saying the lawnmower engine was extremely quiet. After all, the mufflers on lawn mowers aren't so great. I am talking about the engine noise, not the exhaust. But I definitely noticed a new sound I hadn't noticed previously. And that was the sound of the mower blade whirring. So now I am definitely planning purchase more of this synthetic oil. It's not cheap, but if it makes this much difference with a lawn mower, what would it do in a car? And a car is worth a lot more than a lawn mower.

Fumoto F-106N Engine Oil Drain Valve Review

Fumoto F-106N Engine Oil Drain Valve
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This valve worked great. I have these on a 2003 Ford Expedition, 2000 BMW M Coupe, 2007 Jeep Patriot and a 1984 Mercedes 300SD.
The key thing prior to installation is to look at your oil pan and see how the oil pan bolt is situated. Replacing the oil pan bolt with a Fumoto valve is not difficult, but you need to make sure that there is clearance for the valve to take the place of the oil pan bolt. Some oil pans have their bolts recessed in place, making installation of the Fumoto Valve impossible. This is where the correct extender needs to be used.
I recommend when getting a Fumoto Valve, to always get the one with a nipple. It will have an "N" designation in its model, like "F-106N" vs non-nipple model "F-106". The nipple lends itself to easier cleaning and also lets you clamp an oil hose with hose clamp so that you can better direct the oil flow. Once the hose is one, simply switch the valve open and let the oil drain out.
The only problem you'll need to watch out for, and depending on the design of the oil pan, you'll need to take care to see how the Fumoto Valve will be situated on the oil pan. It may protrude from the bottom of the oil pan and there is a chance that if you run over something, the valve may get hit. So, just keep this in mind while driving. The likelihood of having something hit it is rare though.
I will share my story that on my 1984 Mercedes which is very heavy with very bad shocks bottomed out while I drop over a large bump. It lifted the car, like any other bump would do, but upon landing on the ground, the bad shocks did not do much to absorb the rebound and the car's shocks bottomed out. Not a big deal except I heard a crunch and I knew if was the Fumoto Valve that scraped along the ground. I saw no trail of oil in my rear view mirror. When I got home, I jacked up the car. No oil spill, but I shaved a good portion of the nipple off the Fumoto Valve. It's still functional, but that was mostly my fault driving fast over a bump in a very heavy car with very bad shocks. The remaining valves in my fleet have been performing perfectly!

Average Reviews:

Forget synthetics and their advertised benefits if you have a classic or muscle car with a flat tappet or solid rocker arm camshaft. This is the only API rated motor oil on the market for street engines with a high amount of ZDDP (zinc diakldithiophosphate) I know of. Mobil 1 makes a high ZDDP racing synthetic but it's too pricy for me. There will always be debates on what is the the best oil, but high ZDDP makes this a no-brainer in my book.
The Valvoline MSDS sheet states: 1.3% phosphorus/zinc, 1% sulfated ash and 2.5% calcium. The API rating is SH, the other SM rated oils on the market are at or below .08% ZDDP. Live it, use it, drink it, bath in it...not really. Use it in your engine though.

Mobil 1 M1-108 Extended Performance Oil Filter, Pack of 2 Review

Mobil 1 M1-108 Extended Performance Oil Filter, Pack of 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I use these with Mobil 1 synthetic extended performance. Those are what I have used for my car for the past 5 years and have put 60k miles on my car with no break downs yet. The only time my car has broken down was the transmission LITERALLY exploded while cruising on the interstate. I have an 03 Nissan Maxima 3.5L w/ automatic transmission. I only change my oil once a year with these. No I'm not crazy. 3k miles between oil changes is out dated with newer oils. The bonus is that the oil and filter cost about $50 dollars and I save a lot of time over changing it 4 times a year. Add up the costs of the traditional oil and filters and it will probably come to about $50 dollars a year but I have less down time with my car and superior engine protection. Another bonus is the environmental factor which is nice but the money for benefit and time ratio is the main reason I use these. I recommend for any car with low miles you plan on keeping. 200k miles is my goal for my car.

Lisle 63600 Oil Filter Tool Review

Lisle 63600 Oil Filter Tool
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great oil filter wrench. It fits almost all passenger car filters and most smaller trucks. You have to have a 3/8" drive ratchet to use with it. You may need a ratchet extension as well, depending on your oil filter location.
The two pieces that grip the filter are connected with a spring. You pull them apart with your hands, put the wrench on the filter and the spring will pull the pieces into the filter. Hook up your ratchet and loosen, the wrench bites into the filter right away. Easy.
This wrench is for filter removal only. ALWAYS TIGHTEN NEW OIL FILTER BY HAND. NEVER TIGHTEN WITH A WRENCH.

KandN HP-1003 Oil Filter

The ability to snag the end of the oil filter with my socket is priceless. Use these on all four of our cars and cuts down oil change times by quite a bit. Any Honda owner knows they hide the filter to make sure you donate blood while attempting to remove it. With the piece on the end, just ratchet it off! Never a leak. Always runs for a full year, usually 6-8000 miles before change out. Combine it with superior synthetic oil, no problems. I usually order 4-5 at a time as price does go up and down.
