McCulloch FG6000MK 5700-Watt 13 HP 338CC Portable Generator Review

(More customer reviews)The McCulloch 5700 has a well built frame and an included wheel kit (from Northern Tool). The engine is a near identical Chinese copy of the Honda 340 GX 11-hp engine and runs smoothly and fairly quiet. It is not as quiet as a true Honda but more so than a Briggs. Fuel economy seems to be good too. It starts with one or two pulls though I usually run it several times a month. Workmanship seems to be good. Instructions are understandable but suffer from poor grammer. It carries only a one year warranty where most others have two. I'm not too worried about the engine as I am told that Honda parts are interchangeable. The generator part I'm not too sure about but so far after about 30 hours of operation with fairly heavy loads, there has been no problem. The price was right but I won't know if I had made the right decision until some years down the road. I still haven't checked the AC frequency or voltage under load but will do so the next I use it. I do wish it had automatic voltage regulation but that is only found on more expensive units. Anyway, at this point I feel I got a good deal and the unit has exceeded my expectations.

Northern Industrial Barrel Pump Review

(More customer reviews)I intend to use this for something it may not have been designed for--water instead of oil. Thus, the item might rust and the seals might wear out. I live in the desert in Arizona and have my own well. When power goes out, I have no water. So I have 55-gallon barrels of water and this will be my pump. I had long looked for a pump with the threads for a water hose and this is the only one I've found. I haven't used it yet, but this pump appears very sturdy. I'll keep the seals oiled with silicon lubricant, dry it out after use and I think it'll be okay.

(More customer reviews)I've known about these plugs since the 1970's. They're still of good quality and perform. It's good to know that there are still companies out there that maintain a consistent level of quality. You can beat these things to death and they still turn over. Wow! This plug does all that it says it does. I've used them for milking the very last miles off of many a well used engines. They will always fire. As for the vendor I've had a couple of issues with AutoBarn. And in both occasions it had to do with the item description and refunds. In the last transaction I had with them I was shorted a few dollars. They tried to make good but they kept screwing up. I eventually gave up and took a $6.65 loss. I'm staying away from AutoBarn. I would never recommend them. But the Aldor plugs...them things are awesome!

1999 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L V8 2V SOHC Intake Manifold Review

(More customer reviews)Visually, the quality of the Dorman 615-175 intake's material and workmanship seems to be better than the Ford stock intake on my 2001 Mustang GT. The Dorman intake uses an aluminum crossover as opposed to the unreliable plastic crossover on the Ford stock intake (Ford corrected this problem in 2002). The Dorman intake also uses integrated O-rings instead of traditional gaskets, which simplifies installation and probably improves reliability (traditional gaskets is that they have a tendency to trap coolant between the gasket and aluminum cylinder head on the Ford 4.6 liter engine. Over time, trapped coolant can eat away the aluminum).
Although installation required many steps, it was straightforward. I purged the fuel pump, disconnected the battery, drained the radiator, and removed the following: upper radiator hose, temp sensor, alternator, intake plenum, throttle, EGR, fuel injectors, ignition coils, and some emission hoses. After I installed the Dorman intake, my car ran beautifully.
Couple of weeks later, I decided to change the spark plugs. However, I unpleasantly discovered that the Dorman intake partially obstructed 2 spark plug holes on the passenger side (the rear 2 spark plugs next to the intake passages marked with torque sequences 4 and 8). The obstruction was enough to block out my Craftsman 5/8 spark-plug socket, which means that changing these 2 spark plugs would require removal of the intake manifold again ... an unreasonable expectation. This problem did not exist with the Ford stock intake.
If it weren't for this flaw, I would rate this product with 5 stars.

Mothers Leather Conditioner Review

(More customer reviews)Just purchased a 1976 Tbird. Leather seats were dry (not cracked)...after 2-3 applications of conditioner after (mothers) cleaner, leather seemed to come to life..soft, smooth. I had some interior work done the tech mentioned if I used an over the counter product this is the one..that made me sleep better. The smell isn't the most plesent, but did go away by the next day. Thumbs Up!!

(More customer reviews)I have owned a number of Haynes manuals and this is of the same mediocre quality. On the plus side there are lots of pictures and some parts of the manual gives good descriptions of different operations. The problem is the manual tries to cover a huge range of different machines manufactured over a 20 year period. This means there are inaccuracies, omissions and lack detail when you need it. I guess in defense of Haynes most of the manual was probably written about 30 years ago and expectations were lower - but they have had a lot of time for a rewrite...... So, in summary, the manual is a useful reference - but you need to figure a lot out for yourself.
