I bought one of these from AS Cycles in Roseville, CA as a replacement for the stock filler cap that was made of plastic. Functionally, this is a great replacement. After almost a year and about 8K miles, it hasn't shown any of the signs of blowby/leakage that the old stock cap had--there's not even a film of oil. The parts seem made with a high degree of craftsmanship. The plug is chrome-plated steel and very strong compared to the surrounding material or especially the old plastic.
The kit consists of an aluminum ring, the steel plug, o-rings for both, and allen screws to secure the aluminum ring. The installation goes something like this: With the left rocker cover removed, remove the plastic ring and plug from the left rocker cover. Press the new ring, with o-ring and allen screws into the rocker cover and tighten allen screws to secure the ring into the cover. Install the new plug (with o-ring) into the cover and tighten snug. As with all installations, it helps to lube the o-rings before installation to prevent catching/tearing. The aforementioned allen screws are captured by the plug when it is installed, so there's no need to worry that the screws will vibrate out and get into the engine.
I only have two real dings against the kit which caused me to withhold the fifth star. First, the chrome finish of the plug does not match the aluminum valve cover. While this seems superficial, the point is that a different material selection and surface finish would cause the oil filler to be less obvious and thus less prone to tampering. The second nit is that the hex-head wrenches needed for the kit are SAE vs. Metric. (5/16" vs. 7 or 8 mm.) This means one more tool to carry in my kit. This too seems like a slight design oversight, or maybe a practical joke on the part of the designer.
Overall, though, I am more than satisfied with the kit. I would and do recommend it as it performs its primary function, keeping oil in the engine and off the valve covers, very well, and it installs easily. But if the complaints concern you, take a look at some Touratech-brand accessories before buying.
