I recently purchased three of these elctronic, stepper motor type gauges from the manufacturer for my Honda s2000.
I chose the stepper motor type gauges because I have used the analog, magnetic type in the past ( Autometer) and after a year or so, the needles stopped registering accurately. Now these gauges only have a one year warranty ( just like the Autometers did ), but with the swiss type stepper motors, I expect more accuracy ang longevity from them. Okay, on to the gauges..
Gauge Body - Made of ABS with a flat black metal bezel around the outside of the gauge face. The gauges I bought were 52mm and fit correctly in a 52mm pod. The overall construction and feel of the gauge itself was good. They are not terribly deep gauges ( sorry no formal measurements ) so fitment should not present many issues.
Gauge Face - these are 300 degree sweep gauges so it is much easier to see changes in whatever trend you are measuring. The screening is crisp and the fit finish of the gauge face was excellent. One thing that I was not used to is the clear acrylc gauge face. They are domed and thicker than one would expect creating a slight magnifying effect.
Rear of Gauges - The gauges all use modular, pre-wired connectors ( that are supplied ). It allows you to daisy chain all of the gauges together very quickly, big plus that! You WILL still need to run the individual sender wires for each gauge to the gauge itself though.
Senders - these were GREAT. Very small units for both temperatature and pressure, well built an kept me from having any access issues. One oddity, the oil pressure gauge connector was a three prong, triple sealed plug in type. The oil temperature gauge used two plain mail female push in connectors with clear vinyl boots over them, why use different types??
Sender connectors leads - This is the only arena where they really came up short, literally. Remember I am installing these in a small car ( s2000 ). Even so both leads were to short and I had to cut and splice additional wire into them to make them reach. In particular this was a real chore with the oil pressure gauge as the sender lead wires were VERY small gauge wire and I had a hard time making ( what I hope ) was a reliable connection. Also, the area where the oil pressure lead terminated into the plug that fit into the sensor was very fragile. The entire sender lead was jackeeted in a nice thick flexible vinyl coating, but the coating was missing where the wires connected to the plug leaving three VERY thin and fragile wires connecting to the sender in a very industrial location, right next to the engine block with vibration, heat, etc... I tie-wrapped the sender lead to the OP sender and applied some additional silicone sealant to those wires to try and reinforce the connection. Time will tell...
One other comment, I like the gauge graphic just fine. These gauges have at least seven selectable colors and I found one that was nice and unobtrusive. What is not unobtrusive is the big dorky "GLOW SHIFT" name screened across the gauge face. Come on guys, I almost didn't buy them just because of the name. If you have have to put the corporate emblem on them, try something a little more subtle like a nice stylized GS. Still, I got used to them...
Overall, I was happy with the purchase. They were well packed, seem to be of good quality, came with ALL mounting hardware and instructions. My only concern/complaint is in the quality of the OP sender lead and the length of the senders. These gauges use very specific sender ports on the rear of the gauge so you must use the supplied wiring. Make 'em about five feet longer and beef up the lead where it terminates into the plug and I would give them an initial five star rating.
