(More customer reviews)The gasket itself is fine. It is an aluminum gasket, it is hard to make one wrong.
Dorman and Amazon list this particular size as fit for the Mazda 3 2.3 engine. There is some truth to that. The original factory plugs on the oil and transmission pans have a small shoulder beneath the head and the gasket fits around the shoulder. That is not the way factory engineers had envisioned the gasket, but it works. Nevertheless, one of my plugs got busted by an incompetent technician, so I've ordered a Dorman replacement plug, which doesn't have the shoulder, which makes the gasket too big and unusable. Dorman and Amazon both list both the plug and the gasket as replacements for the factory plug and gasket, but they simply don't work together. Replacing either one with Dorman will work. Not both.
Dorman's customer support is completely clueless. Ask them a question and in a week you'll get an answer to blog about.
