I made the mistake of buying one.
First of all it has very little suction.
You have to pump this over and over.
The hoses continually come off.
The worst part is that it leaks.
I tried siphoning gas from a gas can to my car.
There was gas all over place, especially on my hands.
I am going to take it back to where I bought.

Super Siphon w/ 6' Siphon Hose - TWO for 16.95 Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a siphon hose for fuel transfer. Sucking on a hose to transfer fuels with nasty ingredients is something I would like to avoid. The Super Siphon seemed like a good idea and the price seemed reasonable.
The units arrived in good order. It consists of a hose made of good quality materials and a check valve that allows one way fluid flow. I placed the hose in the tank and shook as per instructions. Sure enough the fuel began filling the hose. Way cool, this thing might actually work!
Once the hose filled to the point siphoning could begin I stopped shaking the valve. Siphoning continued for a very short time then stopped. Several attempts with both units yielded the same results.

I took the hose and put it in a clear container filled with water to see what was happening. This the check valve does a good job of filling the hose once siphoning occurs the valve has trouble staying open. When the valve restricts flow siphon action slows then ceases.
A good idea marred by poor quality valve.

SIPHON PUMP--not for food use Review

(More customer reviews)I use this siphon to empty the gas tanks on my lawn mower and my snow blower when the seasons change. It does a great job, but after 2 seasons, the pump part seems to be worn through.
I will need to buy a new one when the seasons change again. It looks like the connector point at the hose and the pump is worn. I'm guessing they could have used better glue for this product.

RoadPro RP36667 Multi-Use Siphon/Pump Review

(More customer reviews)I have purchase this type of pump from several different retail stores, each time forgetting the poor performance I have experienced in the past. This pump could potentially fulfill a basic handyman need: transferring air or liquids. I have usually tried to use it for automotive applications: siphoning oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, engine cooland and the like. It has not been able to perform these basic functions, on any occasion. Specifically, the hose seals are only press-fit friction seals, despite the appearance of threads on the plastic fittings.The main tube seals leak air when trying to press air into any system (other than a latex balloon perhaps). I am unsure what function this device could perform adequately, as it has failed on each attempted use. After my first purchase, a long time elapsed and I began to assume I must have had a bad production model - which I anticipate from any mass produced product... but two subsequent purchases have convinced me that the most valuable pieces in this kit are only the flexible tubing. Better tubing is available. Don't buy this except as a collection of rubber and plastic raw materials for a child's project.
