(More customer reviews)I had a Coleman 1850 watt portable generator that got stolen and needed a replacement for my S FL home. I need to run the fridge, a portable A/C unit, TV and computer equipment during hurricanes. The Coleman could not do all at the same time. I was debating to go for something really nice like the Hondas or "just go cheap". I opted for the later (as a Honda 3000is is like $2K!). Brandsmart USA has the 3500 watt on sale for $249. MUCH to my surprise this is really a nice unit and QUIET! Sounds more like a Honda than the Coleman. While the Coleman Powersport was a nice unit and served me well for years this pound for pound is a great deal. Started on the first pull. Seems pretty well built too. Time will tell, but thus far I am very pleased!

It showed up the following Monday, at 5:30PM. I could have really used that $40.00, and put it towards something else. I hate getting ripped off. The seller could have offered me a bit of my money back, but instead they kept it.

Blendzall EA/GOLD LABEL GALLON 485 GAL Review

(More customer reviews)I am the 2nd reviewer & Amazon is an unlikely place to find Blendzall, I bought 4 gallons online for $23.00 per gal. You'll need to Google for Blendzall and check pricing with vendors to get the best deal. Seems like prices have gone up.
The Pros: As for the product it simply is outstanding and does things that are noticeable. Number 1, my Kawasaki Concours 14 requires premium. In winter, gas formulas are changed and that is immediately noticeable. 485 smooths out the engine and quiets the motor. Either its lubricating or allowing the engine to perform at its peak, not sure but its noticed immediately. Number 2, there is more power delivered (and I am not just cranking the throttle), the throttle response is crisper as well. Number 3, if your bike sits for awhile, Blendzall acts as a fuel stabilizer. Number 4, the smell is intoxicating...but that's subjective. I prefer my carcinogens smelling good!
The Cons: #1You'll need to carefully pour/measure to get the correct ratio of mix to your tank. ~I take a plastic container, calculate how many ounces I need, pour WATER in the container, mark the level with a sharpie. (yes I throw out the water and dry the cup) Each time I add Blendzall, I pour to the marked line and use a funnel to add to the tank~
#2 You'll want to use it all the time. At most run it on every other tank. I generally run it once a month.
#3 Carry a supply with you on the road is possible, but you must use HDPE-2 type plastic or succumb to the wrath of the environmental gods. In other words, using an empty Rubbing Alcohol bottle works perfectly well, zip-loc bag to be extra safe!
I am not a advocate of fuel additives, my recommendation came from my brother who spent decades in motorcycle racing. Based on that I tried it, and based on the experience I had with Blendzall 485, I recommend it.

Stinger HPM Series 4 Gauge Matte Clear OFC Power Wire Review

(More customer reviews)When I got this wire I compared it to my Kicker 4 gauge wire and there is a noticeable difference in size. The Stinger wire itself is smaller, so I would think it will not flow as much as the Kicker. I was a little disappointed since I was trying to match my power and ground wires to each other. It's a lot easier to get into set screw fittings and ring terminals though.
Next time I would look for some Knukonceptz Kolossus Fleks which is about the same size as Kicker for about the same price as this Stinger wire, or Kicker if you can find it.

Briggs & Stratton 030473 2,000 Watt Gas Powered Portable Inverter Generator Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this generator recently and ran it for several hours. The weight of this generator is fairly manageable even with a bad back. The handle configuration was very well thought out and works great making it easier to cary with one hand. I carried it over 200 feet without any problems. Weighs about the same as a Honda eu2000i. Has just about all the same features as well including econ/fuel saving mode. The Briggs and Stratton generator setup was easy and first start up took about 3-4 pulls. Every start after only took 1 easy pull. Even after several days from initial setup the start up was very easy and reliable. In normal mode it was fairly quiet. I have an awesome Yamaha ef2400is and the Briggs was louder but not significantly and it really wasn't too bad. In economy/fuel saving mode it was very quiet and just a bit louder than my Yamaha. Power was acceptable as I could run my 5000 watt boat ac unit, a fan, small refrigerator and a radio all at the same time without any problems and with power to spare however, I was not able to start vary many devices with modest size motors like a 1hp compressor but that was expected. I was able to start a table top grinder and run other devices without any problems. For the money, I would definitely not hesitate because it's much less expensive than it's foreign competitors and runs pretty well. If it cost any more, I would go with a Japanese brand but at this price, I am happy with the decision. It even looks sharp and the silver color looks great.
8/22/2010 - Update on performance review
Ok, here is my report for the generator after using it for about a month now. So far I've logged about 32 hours of use on my boat that does not have power to the pier. I now absolutely love this generator. It starts up flawlessly with little effort. No more than 1 easy pull the first time starts it and that's without using the choke. It runs for about 9 hours with a decent load of 10 amp battery charger charging a bank of batteries, a small fridge, several lights and a 5000 watt a/c. Without the a/c it ran 8 hours with 1/4 tank of fuel remaining. I figured this wasn't a honda so it was going to use a lot more gas but really this thing sips gas. With all this stuff running, I can cycle the A/C on and off and I can hear the generator ramp up and down depending on the power draw. It's smart and efficient. My only negative is a small one but it's just slightly louder than the other more expensive inverter gennys but for half the cost and all the performace I'm not complaining. As far as durability, longevity and reliability, I'll have to wait and see and report back later.
