Briggs & Stratton 030210 Elite Series Vanguard OHV Portable Generator Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I just recieved my new generator today. Amazon delivery was amazing. The truck line called. backed up to my door at my convienience, and me and the driver had it off the truck in less than 5 minutes. Keep in mind this is a 2 person job. Adding to the plus for the delivery is that it was absolutly free.
It took me a total of 10 minutes to install the wheels, support bracket, attach the battery cable(yes it does come with the battery installed),fill with the supplied oil and put in some gas. One little choke and the unit fired off a lot sooner than I anticipated. I ran some electrical power tools to make sure the unit was putting out power and they all worked flawlessly. I searched far and wide untill I settled on this unit. The Vangaurd engine ( built by mitsubishi according to The Briggs rep I talked to) was the major selling point. It is quieter than many larger generators and can ramp up to a 13500 watt surge. Im not hoping for a power outage , but I sure would like to put this baby to the test. I might just throw my transfer switch tomorrow and see what it can do. Very happy at this point

Power Back 5,250-Watt Portable Generator #GT5250-WK Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I own one of these bought from Home Depot. Price was EXCELLENT. May not be a Honda, etc.. But for 400 it is an excellent back up generator. It is made in the US. Starts EVERY time, runs nearly the whole house including the furnace.(No AC) (Will run Window AC). I keep the gas treated, run int once a month or so (As you should ANY gas engine, unless winterized) It is a purchase worth the money.

McCulloch FG6000MK 5700-Watt 13 HP 338CC Portable Generator Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The McCulloch 5700 has a well built frame and an included wheel kit (from Northern Tool). The engine is a near identical Chinese copy of the Honda 340 GX 11-hp engine and runs smoothly and fairly quiet. It is not as quiet as a true Honda but more so than a Briggs. Fuel economy seems to be good too. It starts with one or two pulls though I usually run it several times a month. Workmanship seems to be good. Instructions are understandable but suffer from poor grammer. It carries only a one year warranty where most others have two. I'm not too worried about the engine as I am told that Honda parts are interchangeable. The generator part I'm not too sure about but so far after about 30 hours of operation with fairly heavy loads, there has been no problem. The price was right but I won't know if I had made the right decision until some years down the road. I still haven't checked the AC frequency or voltage under load but will do so the next I use it. I do wish it had automatic voltage regulation but that is only found on more expensive units. Anyway, at this point I feel I got a good deal and the unit has exceeded my expectations.

The McCulloch 11 HP generator with wheel kit and front panel has a 5-gallon fuel tank for 7 hours of runtime when half-loaded. It's powered by an efficient 11 HP OHV engine with an easy pull recoil starter. This generator shuts off the ignition when dangerously low oil levels occur, and it's enclosed in a compact protective roll cage frame. A conveniently located on/off switch provides easy control of this generator, which provides a maximum of 5,700 watts. 10-inch pneumatic wheels and a collapsible handle provide mobility. You'll also appreciate the large muffler that helps restrict noise from the generator. This generator is backed by a 1-year limited warranty.

Porter-Cable H1000IS-W 10,000-Watt 20 HP Portable Generator Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I ordered the unit and it took 26 days to arrive. Assembly was straightforward and the fit and finish was fine. Hooked the unit up to a manual switch and it was underpowered for the house. After much effort, it was clear that the generator pumped out a solid 100 volts ac, not 120. It couldn't even run a handtool at full power. HMMM.... 10,000 watts, eh? Next came Porter Cable NATIONAL service. It took them 48 hours to respond and when they did, it was basically to say its not their problem -try the local service center to see if they fix generators. The local service place was more sympathetic, but that doesn't put power in your lines. I am probably going to be stuck lugging a 350 lb. brand new generator to see if they can find out what's wrong. I'll give the generator 2 stars on looks alone. But I would much prefer a generator that is useable and that has a service crew that is even minimally interested in helping. One way or another I will get this thing to work, but for something that costs over $2ooo, I would have expected a generator that had been inspected by someone other than me.

ETQ TG32P12 4,000 Watt 7 HP 207cc 4-Cycle OHV Gas Powered Portable Generator Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I am a Power Quality Technician for the local power company and I have much experience with electric power. This is one fine generator. I was worried the voltage would be all over the place. I placed a 2400 watt load using a Mega Beast on this and it varied by 1 volt! Nominal 120 volts. I was very happy. This will work in an emergency to keep the heat on and the beer cold as long the total watts is not exceeded. Recommended!
