Kat's 13222 2000 Watt Aluminum Circulating Tank Heater Review

I agree with Troy. In addition, the picture is misleading by not showing the type of electrical connection. It turns out that this product is not a standard 120 plug, (U.S.) It appears to be a 220 volt plug and renders it unusable to the average consumer. Even though I have the ability to make it work, I do not have the interest or time and do not recommend this product.

We installed the heater, started the motor to circulate the coolant, ran the motor for 30 minutes or so, plugged in the heater and it burned up in 5 minutes. Junk. Don't waste your money on this unit. Couldn't return because the shipping was more than the cost. A complete waste of money and time. Buy something local and get the support that you deserve.

Kat's 1160 300 Watt Magnum Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater Review

Kat's 1160 300 Watt Magnum Handi-Heat Magnetic Heater
Average Reviews:

It always worked fine on my John Deere 4230 until I attempted to remove it to use the tractor, yesterday. The heater housing came off in my hand. The housing plastic had melted and allowed the two mounting screws to slide out. The magnetic heating element was still on the oil pan and the plastic housing was in my hand. This is dangerous! The mounting screws need to be lengthened so the screw head protrudes outside the plastic housing. Maybe the heat will not affect the screw fastener mounting if it is redesigned in this manner, or similar? In any case, the design needs to be changed due to the danger.

Kat's 24100 100 Watt 4"x 5" Universal Hot Pad Heater Review

Kat's 24100 100 Watt 4x 5 Universal Hot Pad Heater
Average Reviews:

I bought 4 of these self-adhesive heaters, 2 of them 100 watt models and the other 2 150 watt models. They work great for vehicle applications where it is impractical or impossible to install a block heater for winter vehicle use.
The 100 watt heaters worked perfect for my JDM Subaru Sambar microvan and Subaru Sambar mini truck, while the 150 watt heater was ideal for my Mercedes-Benz E320 sedan that was not previously winterized.
Installation is very easy if you follow the instructions -- just make sure everything is clean so the heater will stick the desired surface, in my case the oil pan.
I would highly recommend these heaters, especially for the price.

Kat's 1155 200 Watt Magnetic Heater Review

Kat's 1155 200 Watt Magnetic Heater

This magnetic heater is convenient to attach and remove for different vehicles. The magnetic attachment maintains a firm grip on the vehicle engine for as long as you want. It does a good job of heating the oil pan enough to achieve dependable starting in cold weather. It has a temp control/thermostat which keeps the heater from running constantly.
The down side is the design of the plastic handle attachment to the heat element and magnet. If the temp control fails and it keeps heating, the anchoring for the screw head melts. Of course, it comes apart when that occurs. I customized an old one by using a longer screw which protrudes through the top/handle mechanism.

Kat's 1153 Handi-Heat 200 Watt Magnetic Heater Review

Kat's 1153 Handi-Heat 200 Watt Magnetic Heater
Average Reviews:

For my old tractor, with no room in the water jacket for a freeze plug heater, this is an excellent solution. The magnet is powerful enough that you feel secure leaving it attached for a while unattended, and it transfers the heat to the oil and metal more effectively than a dipstick heater, which has very little surface area. The nice thing about attaching this device to the bottom of the part you want heated is that any heat that escapes flows up and around the part it's stuck to.

Briggs & Stratton 6030 Standby Generator Cold Weather Kit Review

Briggs and Stratton 6030 Standby Generator Cold Weather Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This cold weather kit is rather expensive, but it does the job. When it first arrived and I saw what it was I was in shock. "I paid almost $200.00 for this?" I had my electrician buddy install it, even though it could be easily done by anyone that can read directions and connect a couple of snap in plugs. We had many nights of sub-zero temps and when I checked the block and battery they were noticeably warmer than the rest of the unit. I started the generator and it turned over flawlessly. I had already spent over $200.00 on the battery and with the temps we get around here I did not want to keep replacing frozen batteries at that price. I would recommend this cold weather kit to anyone in the same situation. It really does do the job as advertised.

To help extend the life of your engine during cold weather start-ups, the oil block warmer features a pre-wired hook-up (no need for extension cords), and keeps the oil and crankcase warm when temperatures drop below 40-degrees Fahrenheit. Kat's 24150 150 Watt 4"x 5" Universal Hot Pad Heater Review

Kat's 24150 150 Watt 4x 5 Universal Hot Pad Heater
Average Reviews:

I purchased several sizes/wattages of these hoping to find the right sizes for my snowblower and ATV engines. The trick is to find flat open spots on or near the bottom of the oil reservoir, clean it well, and stick the appropriate size of heater there. The instructions say DO NOT use gasoline or acetone to clean the spot, and you must believe it. The first one I put on I used acetone (I know - but it's all I had) to clean the spot, and the adhesive does not stick well. On the others I used mineral spirits, and they stick like glue. They stink a bit when heated, but that is going away with use. I also used a 50 watt one to keep a bird bath de-iced, and it worked perfectly down to 5 deg F. No thermostat, so a good idea is to just plug them in a few hours before you use the equipment, or put them on a timer. But, they don't seem to overheat if you put the appropriate wattage on the appropriate size of reservoir - and that's a guessing game. Five stars because they are inexpensive and do exactly what they are meant to do.

This is a great product, it does what it says it does, It heats my duramax up when its -35 F and it fires right up with great oil pressure. Before with just the tank heater I had no oil pressure for up to a minute, this was no good. I installed this very easily, 15 minutes. It heats the whole engine from the bottom up. The frost plug heaters only heat from the waterline up. This is a must for cold weather operation. Five STARS!

Kat's 24050 50 Watt 2"x 5" Universal Hot Pad Heater Review

Kat's 24050 50 Watt 2x 5 Universal Hot Pad Heater
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased a used sailboat with a small diesel engine (Yanmar 1GM10) that was always hard to start. After cranking for the better part of a minute, the engine would fire ... and backfire from all of that fuel that the mechanical injection system put into it. Boat "experts" recommended expensive repairs, such as injector replacement, and I finally stopped at my local Kabota tractor shop. A knowledgeable person recommended an oil-pan heater, so I bought this product (they were out of stock on that seasonal item, but Amazon had it to me in 2 days).
Anyway, the engine holds 1.5 qt of oil, which is appropriate for a 50 - 60 W unit. This 2 x 5-in pad fit my oil pan perfectly. Installation took about 10 min to sand off the paint, wipe it down with alcohol, and stick on the self-adhesive pad. I went to the boat the next day, and it turned right over ... and it has ever since.
For less than $20.00, I have an engine that starts well every time. The other benefit is that it keeps the oil above about 110 deg F, so the wear on the cold engine will be greatly reduced, with longer life expected. For that reason alone, this heater would be worth the cost. BTW, my monthly electric charge at the marina is $0.05/kW-hr, so it costs less than $2.00/mo to run it continuously. If you are even considering such a small investment, stop worrying and get it. You won't be sorry.
