This Review For Mounting Plate Version...Same Gauge...
One of the things most people don't think about is their oil pump. Most people figure if their engine starts and runs, gets them where they need to go, there is no need to worry, but that is far from the truth. If your oil pump goes, oil will not be pumped throughout the engine, hence causing engine seizure.
I find that the best way to prevent this from ever happening is to always know if you have proper oil pressure at all times, and to do that, your going to need an oil pressure gauge.
What I like about Sunpro, is that they always supply everything you need to install their gauges. They provide the pressure tube, fittings, and the gauge light bulb. All you need to do on your part is have a little bit of mechanical/electrical knowledge.
I found this gauge pretty easy to install. I removed the oil sender plug in my engine block (you can use a T-fitting so you can run both, but you need to buy that) and replaced it with the engine fitting. Then installed the tube and hex nut. I made sure it was nice and tight so that I would not have any leaks.
I find that Sunpro provided plenty of length of the pressure tube. Its not that flexible though so be careful not to kink it, cause it will easily. I uncoiled the amount I needed and ran it through some wire loom, which can be bought at any auto parts store.
I used the same process to install the tube into the gauge (use zip ties to keep the remaining coiled tubing secured) and I mounted the plate and gauge into my dash. After that, I installed the light bulb for the gauge and spliced the wires into a couple of eye connectors and mounted to the dimmer.
Keep in mind that if you don't like the color of the mounting plate, you can customize it by painting it the color you like before you install it such as I did.
As soon as I started my engine, a few seconds later, the pressure built up and I could see my pump was running at 60 PSI (Pressure Per Square Inch) like it should. Now if my pressure ever drops down to 20 PSI or less, then I know to check my engine. Trust me, it's a good investment if you value your car or truck, or even your tractor.
I have had no problems with it and the light bulb allows you to read the gauge at night. I highly recommend this gauge!
