As of December 2008, Brad Penn oils were still being manufactured to the old API-SF and ILSAC GF-2 standards with a full .140% Zinc and .130% phosphorous needed by older engines with flat (non-roller) tappets, such as MG, Porsche, Maserati, Ferarri, and most small and big block GM and Fords. These are a great low-cost alternatives to aftermarket synthetic oils being marketed for flat tappet engines (e.g. Royal Purple). Not for use in late model cars with 100,000 mile warranties on the converter, but necessary to avoid early cam/lifter failures on flat tappet cars. Hoorah for Brad Penn.

We have C1 and C2 Corvettes (1953 - 1967 ). Todays oil works on engines with roller cams, old technology need a zinc additive to lubricate the hydraulic and sold lifter cams of yesterday. Valvoline does a great job doing this. I do suggest a zinc additive for extra protection such as ZZDP plus.
