Got to love Permatex products and this one is not exception, I've used this many times for lapping in valves on small engines to the big guns. The only problem I've ever had was when the tube is empty. :0)
For most of my specialty chemicals on the shelf from silicon to gasket remover there are all Permatex brand.
Permatex really makes some great products. Just make sure you've cleaned the valve guides, stems and seats really good before reassembly.
Buy this product with confidence.

Permatex 81668 Stripped Thread Repair Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I stripped some threads on a mountain bike bottle cage boss. Instead of drilling it out and rethreading it I tried to use this to fix it. While this worked out I really do not feel like it did exactly what I wanted it to do. The bottle cage has been secure and has not come loose in over 6 months of riding on rough trails, but I think I could have achieved the same result by gluing the screw into the boss.
Bottom line: it works, but it's probably not the best solution.

Epoxy glues have a limited shelf life. Buy yours at a small store where the merchandise doesn't move quickly, or keep it 5 years on the shelf and it won't work well. Don't apply it at temperatures below 60 degrees. Spend at least 2 or 3 minutes mixing it. I use a timer to be sure. Surface preparation is the key. It must be completely grease free. I use naptha (lighter fluid) alcohol, and acetone in that order. The surface MUST be rough. I use a file,very rough (#40 or #60) sandpaper or a sharp Exacto blade to make multiple cross hatch cuts- this will even work on most steels. Apply the mix carefully, put the pieces together so they don't move for at least 8 hours.
Do all that and the bond is very strong.

(More customer reviews)I used this recently when I changed the fluid in the rear diff. of my 97 Explorer. Didn't need a gasket just the RTV. Seals great and no leaks. The car has 150K and I noticed a leak so I pulled the cover and it has no gasket. So someone had changed the fluid before many miles ago and used an unknown gasket maker. It was worn out but I was happy the fluid wasn't to dirty and not much had leaked out. Cleaned off the old sealant and painted the cover. I followed the directions on the RTV and installed the cover. I waited overnight to refill. Not necessary but I noticed a brake line was badly rusted and needed to replace that. After replacing the brake line I filled the diff. up with new synthetic gear oil and no leaks.
