(More customer reviews)I am currently trying to install one for a customer and it is nowhere near fitting. The rear seal area is made too small and contacts the cap before being able to seat all the way down onto the block.
I will be contacting Moroso this week about it.
In my experience, most packaged oil pans are terrible in how they initially fit the engine and/or chassis. The problems is generally not there on the real high dollar stuff (custom fabricated like Stef's) that most guys do not want to purchase but, if you take the amount of time into account that you will spend making the lower dollar pan fit, that $600 pan is not a bad deal anymore.
Think before you buy.
Update 4-2-08 Talked to Moroso and they said that sometimes they get tweaked during welding and suck in. I was told to send it back and I was going to but I figured to get this customer finished, I'd have my supplier deliver another for the next day......it was tweaked also. Not as bad though. We may be able to make it work. I'll update again as soon as I know something.
Update 4-8-08 Went through 3 of the same part number pans from Moroso and every one of them had the same problem. I ordered a Milodon #31125 and it fit perfectly with standard installation procedures. The Milodon pan does not have the "bells and whistles" that the Moroso piece had but the fact that it is usable makes all the difference.
